Food for Thought

So it’s official, the World Cup has started in Rio, and to celebrate, Team Arhinarmah have been thinking about all the mouth-watering cuisines from all the countries represented. With a lot of the matches showing late in the day, what better way to prepare for them than a BBQ in the sun with family and friends before gathering to watch the game? You could always liven it up with a quiz, or a mini match of your own to add an air of healthy competition before it all kicks off. In the spirit of the World Cup, we’ve looked at some scrumptious menus from all over the globe – if you’re a dab hand in the kitchen, why not use one or more of these to liven up your party?!

Brazil

This mouth-watering selection represents the host cuisine.  Churrasco is the Brazilian name for any cut of meat which has been cooked on skillets or hot coals. Pair it with a few choices of fresh salads, greens or beans for a truly South American experience.

Italy

pasta

After the past weekend, Italy probably isn’t the favourite here in Blighty, but come on… who doesn’t like a fresh pasta salad on a summers day? Mix some fresh basil, olives and chili, olive oil, feta, or sundried tomatoes to the mix to give your dish a true taste of the Meditarranean!

Britain

scotch%20egg

Home sweet home, and it wouldn’t be a party without a good old scotch egg on the buffet table, but just for that extra bit of uniqueness, why not  make your own with this great recipe from the nation’s favourite, Jamie Oliver.

Ghana

And of course, the homeland of Arhinarmah, Ghana has their team representing in Brazil. These tasty treats are perfect little luxury bites for a ‘Barbie, made with plantain rounds and mackerel. If you really want to be the envy of all your friends, you can hire the services of Eat Jollof, the luxury West African caterers that are ready for everything from small functions to weddings.

What food reminds you most of home? For me, believe it or not, it’s macaroni cheese that my mum made for me when I was little!

Of course, you can’t have a feast without having something to eat from. Take the next step in supporting your heritage with crockery sets which reflect your taste! Lovedu Living is a great place to pick up some  fantastic sets of cutlery, as well as some of our own limited edition cushions.

These earthy plates represent the wilderness of Africa with it’s animal print designs.
